Default Morality Thread

I don't want to sidetrack the ongoing threads, but I wonder if anyone else has poems on the issue of morals. I know there is bigger talent out there (in here) than me.

No cash prizes, sorry.

Sucker

A Poem on Morals

I aim to take it with me when I go.
I aim to take my Caddy and van Gogh.
I aim to take my women
and I aim to take my swimmin'
pool and, hey man,
that's my grass you're on. So go.

I aim to take it with me when I go:
caviar and bonded scotch and curacao.
And the rainbow and fresh air.
I hate schools and Medicare.
I got nada you can share.

I've a plan to take it with me when I go.

I'm digging this big hole before I go.
like that dude I saw on TV, doncha know.
He stashed his loot inside
(every soldier, every bride).
He was fully justified.
You don't like it? Well, you know where you can go.

I'm taking mine and yours too when I go.
Yours is mine so you had better let it go.
I keep tabs on whose and which.
Give it back to me, you bitch.
You have stolen from the rich.
And I want my pockets bulging when I go.

I've always liked this one by Siegfried Sasson (of which I was reminded by Quincy's poem at Everse announced in another thread):

Base Details

If I were fierce, and bald, and short of breath,
I'd live with scarlet Majors at the Base,
And speed glum heroes up the line to death.
You'd see me with my puffy petulant face,
Guzzling and gulping in the best hotel,
Reading the Roll of Honour. 'Poor young chap,'
I'd say—'I used to know his father well;
Yes, we've lost heavily in this last scrap.'
And when the war is done and youth stone dead,
I'd toddle safely home and die—in bed.

MR GRUMPY’S FILM REVIEW

Well turned out with a 1930s face,
good figure and authentic panty lines,
she looks the part and has a sense of place,
she clips her speech, eats nicely when she dines.

I should be happy with her as an actress
but I’m not. That interview she gave
to launch the film, cool casual sluttishness
for me consigns this movie to the grave.

And it’s not prudishness, the girl should think
before she lets her real self interface
with rôles she plays and not cause chaps to blink
with disbelief when she’s in stays and lace.

It’s never good to harm the parts you play
by seeming crass and coarse in what you say.

Fun stuff, Janice and Holly. Here's one of mine. Hope to see others join in.

Cheers!
Donna

At Your Service

Carry him down to the sea, ladies.
Tip up the litter and let him slip in
quietly. Thank him for me, ladies:
thanks for the patronage, thanks for the gin.
Weight him with anchor stones please, ladies.
Let him sink into a soft bed of silt.
No one will miss him. From we, ladies,
comes his last service; there’s no need for guilt.
