Default Mason on Colorado Public Radio

After the FIRES, the SHOOTINGS.

Those unaware of the incredibly difficult job Davey has had this summer fulfilling his public role as Colorado's Poet Laureate might be interested in listening to these sensitive meditations broadcast on Colorado Public Radio, the former a couple of weeks ago, and the latter, today.

I could not be more in awe of what he does, and how he goes about doing it.

Thank you for all you do, Davey!

Cally

Amazing -- searing poems, sobering commentary. It's brave to attempt poems on events of such magnitude.

Thanks so much for posting the links, Cally.

Not an easy time to be poet laureate of Colorado. Very finely done - memorable poems and well-judged, sensitive commentary. Bravo, Dave - and thanks for sharing, Cally.

"After the Last Shot" is helping me cope with and memorialize the shootings, as I'm sure it is helping everyone in Colorado.

Yes, Davey, those are very fine, very public poems. I just spent 90 minutes taping Alan's translations of the psalms for Prairie Public Radio this morning. It's hard work. One has to get up ready to give it your best, and you always do.
