Default Pixel poets and online workshops incl. Eratosphere

Subscribers to Rattle may have read and remember an essay some time ago written by Colin Ward about the online workshops and the poets and critics who evolved with them rather than via the printed page. “Pixel Poetry: A Meritocracy” by Colin Ward

Eratosphere is one and some of the members here are also named as part of this movement. Tim Green, the Rattle editor has put that essay online today. You can read it here.

Very good. I first learned about Eratosphere from Dana Gioia's essay "Disappearing Ink."

Interesting essay. It raises some points about online workshopping that I have not heard before.

I was going to post this on Accomplished Members, but saw that Janice had already posted here. Colin Ward is Wintaka on the Sphere, so he's one of ours.

Thanks Nausheen for adding Colin's Sphere name. That was an oversight on my part.

I'd like to also draw attention to this:

Quote:
Ask about the best online poet and you’ll get one answer: the late Margaret A. Griffiths, aka “Maz” or “Grasshopper.” In a 2005 poll, members of the expert community declared Maz the poet they’d most want to see in an anthology. This was five months before her signature masterpiece (Fig. 2) was written and five years before it was published (posthumously).
But the "Beans" poem is one of the best political poems I've ever read. If I could write one even close to that in my lifetime, I'd be so happy.

And needless to say, I have never stopped being curious about who D.P. Kristalo is. Quite likely a nom de plume. Or does anyone have better information?
