Default Anyone recognize these?

last few days to complete Nemo:

Anyone have ANY ideas about these ? (who by? when/where they appeared?)

Devolved from a youthful

fascination to an earthbound boredom,

he hates himself as much as the laboratory-

cum-classroom. He is proud of being completely bald,

Bunsen Brynner rubbed off the board with a pleasing regularity.

Orpheus with his lute made trees

And the mountaintops that freeze

Bend themselves; that’s more than you

With your disgusting voice can do.

In dream the desired came

To my lonely bed,

as ’twere to her own:

And called my name

And touched my head

This one is Shakespeare (Henry VIII):

Orpheus with his lute made trees
And the mountaintops that freeze
Bend themselves; that’s more than you
With your disgusting voice can do.

Whazzup! Don't quite understand this. The Nemo reference has me puzzled. Is that our Nemo or a different Nemo. Is there a contest? Do you now split the prizes with Bill and Ralph? Are there any stupid questions I've forgotten?

Thanks for the response.

WFL: It's a parody of Shakespeare. I recognized the Henry VIII lines put to use, but the end lines are not Shakespeare (that’s more than you / With your disgusting voice can do.)

RCL: Frankenstein? Any more details on that? (Not from Mary Shelley's, I think.)

MC: They are from this year's Nemo's Almanac, the world's longest literary quiz (c.125 years) :

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-en...d-1182421.html

"It has the form of an almanac with twelve months, each of which have six quotations on related subjects. It comes out every year and has an eccentric but fanatical following. All you have to do is try and identify the quotes. There's a whole black market in the quotations that people get through bartering and various forms of bad behavior." ALAN HOLLINGHURST

Who is editing it now, Steve?

I have lost touch since the world has lost Gerard Benson.

If I could help, I'd PM you. But I can't. So I won't.

But - Good Luck!

Thanks Ann

I forgot 'General Talk' was accessible to search engines

So yes, if anyone can help identify any of them, a pm would be appreciated.

Editor is currently Nigel Ford.
