Mock Newbery
Many of you know that one of the top prizes in children's publishing for writers is the Newbery Award. It is so important in the business that it has spawned several "Mock Newbery Awards" conducted by various organizations and book clubs. My book, The Red Ear Blows Its Nose: Poems for Children and Others (Able Muse/Word Galaxy 2023), has been nominated for the Mock Newbery Award found at Goodreads. That's one of the biggest and most visible Mock Newberys around, so it would be nice to win or do well.
And that's the reason for this post. If you have a moment and feel like it, could you click on the "vote" button next to my book on this page? It will only take seconds, but my gratitude will linger on indefinitely.
Thanks!

Bob. I'm not seeing any vote buttons, just a "want to read" button.

Someone on Facebook in the UK suggests that you can't vote on the phone app, only on the laptop or pc. Thanks for trying!

Ah, OK. I'm away from home at the moment, I'll try again on a PC when I get a chance.

I know how good your kidverse is, Roger-Bob, but no can do. No way of knowing whether it’s Russian censorship or a self-imposed sanction by Goodreads, but the site won’t open, and the free VPNs I’ve been using have also been blocked. In Russia, the red ear will have to wait for better days to blow its nose. Good luck anyway!

On my laptop I don't see any "vote" buttons beside books but there is a "vote now" link in the sidebar. That prompts me to sign in; I think you need to have a goodreads account to participate.

Thanks for trying, Christine. I think you can register quite easily. You just link it to your Amazon or Facebook or Google account, and you're in.
Carl, this confirms my worst fear: Russian election interference. Damn that Putin!
(My book has risen to #3 on the list as of Friday morning).

I can confirm that that it's very easy to set up an account, and have now voted.
I guess it makes sense that only members can vote, so that they can make sure people vote only once.

Thank you, Matt, and everyone else who has voted. You've moved the book to the #1 slot, at least for now.
