This is NOT me!

But being one of the vastly outnumbered voices of the more conservative line of things on Eratosphere, I had to play it. I don't know if this guy is a relative (there probably is a connection some where along the line--he even looks like me a little bit) but I'm going to find out.

Most of the stuff he says I pretty much endorse (minus the religious bit at the beginning).

Enjoy:

David - what is there to endorse? The ad shows a rich, nice looking white guy who utters total banalities about "values" and "family" and "Mississippi's values" (I'm old enough to remember exactly what that was a code for, and hope we've gone beyond it - but I'm not sure), while soft music plays and Little League pictures show in the background - and you find this meaningless bullshit something other than disturbing? It's pablum - not a shred of actual thought or policy or what the guy thinks or intends to do in it. And the word "values" is slipped in four times in 30 seconds. Jeez!

Here's another Landrum "ad" that I found far more interesting:

I agree, the first ad is completely void of addressing any of the serious pressing issues that the average American is faced with today.

The Republican mindset is all about how they can keep making the most money by keeping the working poor in their place. We have a real class struggle being waged in this country, the likes of which have not been seen since the age of the Robber barons that preceded the Great Depression.

The trouble is, many Republicans are still asleep, not realizing they are part of the "have nots" that are going to be screwed by this kind of governing. They have been fed so much misinformation about purported welfare queens while the sneaky politicians were actually implementing huge corporate welfare at the expense of the commons. Without protection of the commons, our infrastructure will collapse. A strong middle class requires regulation of bankers and corporations, period. History proves that. Corporations should not have "personhood" because the goal of any corporation is always to make the most money possible, with whatever means it takes, disregarding the rights of workers and the safety of the environment. That's not really too complicated to understand. But the right wing goes to great lengths to spread propaganda saying otherwise.

Okay, Michael, "endorse" is the wrong word. As for the ad being a just fluff and lacking substance--politics as usual. So he's a rich white guy--like John Kerry? No, he doesn't have that much money. Mr. Landrum is like most of the other candidates, Democrat and Republican, who are running this year.

Ann, I'm always wary about government regulating things. The rich will find a way to protect their money and it is usually the real middle class that gets hit when social or economic engineering occurs.

I primarily put this ad becasue I thought it was funny with my name in it.
