Well, I am pleased to announce that the exceptionally-gifted art-song/classical composer Lori Laitman has set one of my sonnets to music as part of her cycle on the writer Edna St. Vincent Millay, commissioned to be performed in New York City sometime next spring.
Mine not being the only "voice" in the series, but as it includes the work also of Diane Thiel and others who might be of interest to those here, I will try to post more information when I get it.
From the excerpts Lori has played and sung for me, it is positively gorgeous, likely to be appreciated by both sophisticate and not-so-sophisticate.

Congratulations, Jennifer. And of course HAPPY BIRTHDAY as well! Where is that cake Marion was serving to Roy yesterday? Oh yeah, beautiful, slender girls like you don't eat cake!

Terrific news, Jennifer! Poetry aspires to be music--and sometimes it gets there.

If you and Edna are part of it, and with an ear to your praise of composer Lori Laitman, it has got to be an elegant collaboration.
Warm congratulations on that and on your annual milestone. We'll be watching for the follow-up news.

I had a *marvelous* birthday -- (Mah Jongg, anyone?); thank you for the well wishes.
By the way, Lori's opera, The Scarlet Letter, (libretto written by OUR David Mason), premieres November 6th and runs for three days at the University of Central Arkansas, Conway.
If you're anywhere in the vicinity, attend this opera.

Timothy, Mary -- merci! Lori has been known to work with Annie Finch, Paul Muldoon, Dave and Dana -- so I feel quite honored, yes.
