Default Poetry Magazine

I recently told a friend that the poem he showed me didn't work. "I was hoping it really sucked," he said, "so it could be published in Poetry." I haven't kept up with Poetry since before Wiman's tenure but just peeked at the current issue, and I must say I wasn't inclined to read much.

Comments from any regular readers of Poetry?

Thanks,

Bill

I agree with your friend, and did not bother renewing my subscription. The only time I hear about if these days is when somebody who still reads it gives another example of how divorced from poetry Poetry has become.

Poetry shall rise again. And the lesser shall be put aside in favor of the greater, forever.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day, as the saying goes. My feeling is that in two years' worth of Poetry, you could probably find a really good issue.

Best,

Ed
