Default Link to the musical score composed for my poem

Hubble

Of the years of being lost in space
homeless in a placeless place
only the falling feeling remains
and all the stars whistling away
like jet planes.

I received a link to the piano prelude composed by John Reager who is setting my poem Hubble to music for The Piedmont Childrens Choir, a prestigious choral group that often performs with symphony orchestras.

If anyone wants to look at the score:

I'll send the SSA arrangement as soon as it's finished.

Diana,

I don't know you or your poetry, and, seeing that this string has had about 60 viewings (and, presumably, listenings) and no replies before now, it is with trepidation that I speak up. As you say, what you've posted is an introduction, not a song. I would be inclined to wait for the song itself, since it may turn out to be in total contrast to this.

But I may as well stick my neck out and admit that for me, a song needs first and foremost to be singable. As a close second, I'd like it to have a melody, and preferably one that I can remember, at least for a short while after hearing it. Some sort of varied rhythmic pattern would also add interest.

A random definition of melody ...

... contains references to poetry. So, is this an infernal loop? Or, does it imply that we may expect certain things of music that are analogous to what we expect of poetry?

Claudia
