When my iPad is whimpering and ready to blink,
your buttons are better and perky and pink
and they're so much softer to the touch.
And when you save a screen, it's just too much.
I could sit for hours and watch you de-frag!
Not to mention that twitchy shag
you do when we check your register.
Woof! I'd listen to you purr
Till Apple goes bust and we're back to stones
and chiseling notes on bison bones.
So come kiss me. Let's blog a-while.
Some things never go out of style.

You ask me: What's the thing to do
That makes the nicest girls applaud?
I'll tell you this, for it is true:
They hate a fraud.

You will not win a lady's hand
With loud or vain or idle boast.
Because she'll see right through you, and
Then you'll be toast.

She'll spurn a low seductive trap;
She'll shy away from wily schemes.
Frank, brave and upright is the chap
Of whom she dreams.

So learn this ancient verity
If lady you would win:
Just learn to fake sincerity -
Then boy! You're in!

Nice twist, George. Didn't see it coming.

Good one, George, though I can't help feeling you've had the private detectives on my tail observing the way I live.

My only quibble is that the second line in the last stanza is short. It needs something like

So learn this ancient verity
If lovely lady you would win:
Just learn to fake sincerity -
Then boy! You're in!

Well, "lovely " may not be the right word, but it fills the metre.

Thanks, Jerome and Brian.
Brian - I think you're right about that line. I shall ponder it.

Teen Passeggiata

On sultry village nights, teens stroll
in silence, sway with subtlety,
their rhythms smooth and sensual,
this festa da ballo on the square
a stately courtship ritual.

In cities adolescents pace
to hot CDs and chirping phones,
and even ancient Napoli
hosts lively Fiat promenades
on Via Spaccanapoli—

like US kids who cruise the aves
in Chevy coupes, on Harley hogs,
and pause to honk, exchange hellos
or pick-up lines—while radios
articulate uncertainties.

Default pardonnez-moi

I'm only a kibbitzer here, but isn't the concept of advice, as in how to get laid, a little absent from some (not all) of the entries thus far posted?

Hope that helps!

Bazza, I think it's called poetic licence - or do I mean "poetic licentiousness"?

Am struggling big time with this one.

Despite the wonderful examples so far, my lack of expertise on the subject is shining through.
