Because, Roy, from I've seen and what you've said in other threads, your skill as a poet, at the moment, is that of a hobbyist and dabbler, not that of a formal scholar, professional writer, or even a serious student. This is--as Alicia noted earlier--a formal forum for serious and scholarly discussions of both masterworks as well as poetic devices. If you want to do a flytting or rimed correspondence, there's a topic for it over in FunExcise, but this isn't the place for it.

You had a question about stanzas and stanzaic breaks and I did my best to answer it, with other forum members coming in to validate, qualify, or counter what I said, and I'm grateful to Alicia and Katy in particular for adding their knowledge and scholarship to the discussion. I was unaware of stanza meaning "room" and the logic of thinking them as rooms in a memory palace, with enjambed stanzas as connecting rooms, has enlarged my own understanding.

However, if you think I'm doing this for fame, you're sadly mistaken. But as for you treating it as game.... Um, you're composing answers and rants in verse. That is, rather by definition, treating it as a game.

Well, Kevin, I guess that just about says it.

When you get to the point where you realize that all interactive life expresses itself as a game (some would read "dance"), and realize that some of us do not want poetry as a profession, or a scholarly pursuit, or a classroom exercise, but a part of the interaction with life, then we will better understand each other.

Best,
Roy

It's rather a shame that this interesting--and important--topic has been hijacked by a private argument that ought to have been taken to pm. I am afraid I am going to have to close this thread and reopen a thread on stanza and syntax.
