Default Spring Carnival

on the first Sunday of Lent

epigraph added

It’s springtime once more at my place on the shore,
x an’ the weather’s adorably warm.
There’s a mood in the air of the devil-may-care,
x a desire to repair from the norm.

L2 was: an’ today it’s adorably warm.

An’ obeyin' this urge, all the people emerge
x from their modest auberge or their tent.
It’s so good to rebel from the nebulous hell
x of pretendin' to celebrate Lent.

L3 was: ...the everyday hell

It’s easily seen that everybody’s keen
x to engage in this meaningful life,
even just for the day. They're quite happy to stray
x an’ abandon their prayer an’ strife.

L3-4 were: even just for a day. Quite happily they/ abandon...

On the square in the town the fool gets his crown,
x an’ the lion lies down with the lamb.
An’ isn’t it nice this can simply suffice,
x the sweet paradise that I am?

L1 was: In the centre of town...
