Max, I can see why you are confused. The girl cuts herself with a razor, and the poem seems to blame the damage on time, or compares some unspecified damage caused by time to the razor cut. I was trying to imply that in time some damage will be done to everyone. This is the earliest damage I can remember. I'm not entirely sure of what age I was when it happened, though I cannot have been older than six. But no one gets through life unscathed. I'm expecting readers to make that kind of logical leap. I don't know if it is harder than I thought. If others are having trouble with it, it would help to know.
