That's the thing - I think they HAVE figured it out. They just don't care. They're used to riding roughshot over people - doing whatever the hell they want and damn the consequences. They take what they want, where they want it and whenever they want it - with little or no regard for who they take it from.
Past practice says they can get away with it for the short run and they aren't worried about the long run. The end justifies the means and that's all there is to it.
As for using "Born in the USA" and not realizing it was an anti-war song - has anyone checked out the actual lyrics to "Barracuda?"
You lying so low in the weeds
I bet you gonna ambush me
You’d have me down down down down on my knees
Now wouldn’t you, barracuda?
Back over time we were all
Trying for free
You met the porpoise and me
No right no wrong, selling a song-
A name, whisper game.
If the real thing don’t do the trick
You better make up something quick
You gonna burn burn burn burn it to the wick
Ooooooh, barracuda?
It's about a woman - not a good woman - and it's not complimentary. Hardly something a good wife and mother, a proud Christian or an intelligent, successful business woman would want to be known as.
As for the fish, Barracuda, it's dangerous when provoked, it's a predator, a scavenger, a formidable hunter, and perfectly capable of defending itself against humans that harass them. Weirdly enough, wearing jewelry and other shiny objects is discouraged when they're around as barracudas tend to be attracted to things that glint and shine.
Again, a strange thing to want to be compared to, dontcha think?
Not a bad thing for a basketball player perhaps, not so good for a woman who was voted "Miss Congeniality" in a beauty pageant, and terrible for a vice president of The United States.
