John Whitworth- "I still think a written constitution is a great step
backwards." -

"What exactly has a slave owning man of the eighteenth
century got to say to an American black woman
today?"

"The British way is better."

" How many Americans have read and understood
their constitution?"

" I know nothing about the United States"

John, with all due respect, you opened this can of worms.

You've been disrespectful, shown your ignorance, and been demeaning. Now you want to drop it. OK.

The only true statement you've made here is the last one.

One thing though, the next time Britannia comes begging us to get you out of a war, go begging somewhere else.

Fondly as always, the ignorant,
Charlie.

Charlie, also with respect. The United States did not enter WW II to save Britain any more than Lincoln started the Civil War to free the slaves.

The Empire of Japan declared war on the United States on December 7, 1941 after a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, and the United States Congress declared war on the Japanese Empire the following day, as did the United Kingdom and a number of other countries.

On December 11, 1941, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States and America immediately responded by declaring war on those two countries.

One may speculate whether or not the United States would have entered the European war or not; the facts are that the country was forced into a state of war by the above events.

It was Britain who declared themselves an ally of the US in their war against Japan, before the US became an their ally in Europe.

Now we are all friends.

Yes Janice, you are correct. I guess I should have mentioned Lend-Lease instead. Yes, I love all of you. Friends it is. I do like Shakespeare though, whoever she was.

Me too. Shakespeare knew a lot about people and what made them tick.
