What a magnificent poem that poem is. Does anyone mention its colour and chiaroscuro?
When I was a child Christina Rosetti reached me immediately. That must be good. Nobody read her to me. I found her.
I have resisted Pound, not for political reasons but because a particularly autocratic Italian poet who didn't speak English, introduced his work to me as the "greatest". Since his English was very marginal I developed a habit of resisting Pound. I'll try again.
