Thanks, Gail. One can never predict a judge's taste, so any poetry entry is a shot in the dark. On the other hand, I can hardly complain about not having been a winner when I would never have written the poem without the contest. With luck, the poem will eventually find a home elsewhere. Meanwhile, the contests are sparking all kinds of light verse for me, at a time that I am too busy, generally, to write at all. Here's to fun (and congratulations to Bill). Thanks also to John Whitworth for passing along the contest guidelines so that we have plenty of lead time.
