This has been number one on my Christmas list for a long time.

A fair comment, I think.

Slate just named the Pale Fire gizmo one of the best books of the year.

Very cool, Sam. I must admit, I read some assessment of the poem that came out as part of this (the times, maybe?) and had to agree: the poem's a good joke, and devastating to Frost, who mostly deserved it, and a little bit at Eliot's expense as well. But trying to make it out to be a serious work is a caper worthy of Kinbote himself!

Anyway, congrats. Worthy work, and I'm glad it's getting noticed!

Thanks,

Bill

Brian Boyd's new book and the "Pale Fire gizmo" (as I'm calling it) are the subjects of the current TLS cover and Martin Amis's review.

This is fabulous news. I'm dying to re-read the book.

As Amis says, "an unencumbered Pale Fire compels us to re-examine the poem as an autonomous whole. And the exercise is epiphanic."

And he's right! I'm enjoying the gizmo tremendously.

Youze gotta get this.
