Am I alone in thinking
that French food’s over-rated?
I’ve had a lot of their cuisine
and, though I haven’t hated
it all, I’ve often been deprived
the pleasure of some veg.
It’s mostly down to good PR
they think they’ve got the edge.
Their croissants may be lovely
but Beef Bourguignon’s just… stew.
The French might think they’re very chic,
although there’s nothing new
on menus in provincial towns.
I can’t say I’m a fan
of snails and frogs’ legs, for it’s all
a load of coq… au vin.
