Opossum

I never knew a yellow pearl
that sprouted into blossom
until I saw a bouncy girl
who captured an opossum.

His friends, aghast that he'd been caught,
sent yellow pearls for ransom.
The girl said, "Really? Had you thought
that somehow I'd demand some?"

The girl, if rumor has it right,
was nothing short of awesome.
She did not make a fuss or fight
but freed the friends' opossum.

in that case I'm a bit confused Brian! Can you define for me(in one or two syllabic words please) the meaning of nonsensical verse. Thanks. B.

It would help if you quote the post that you are answering - firing off rockets in all directions and expecting the original poster to recognize that he is being addressed is also a bit confusing!

Jabbery-wockery, dickery-dockery,
Tensical-densical, this is nonsensical.

(Apart from the last phrase.)

Whereas, as I've said elsewhere, poems like "The Walrus and the Carpenter" or "The Owl and the Pussycat" are perfectly coherent, and make perfect sense - on their own terms.
