Right on cue, the war on cash...

"Naturally, these restrictions are justified by the need to fight “tax evasion” and “terrorism.” But I think the real reason is to force savers to help prop up the tottering banking system. And don’t forget that the global “bail-in” model applies to these deposits. If a bank goes bust, depositors must share in the losses, as I discussed in this essay."

I can see it's all jolly unfair if you actually have a big bag of money. But I don't, I never have, and I never will have. So to hell with it.
Perhaps it's time to put my small bag of money under the bed. What do you think, Norman?

Time to duck for cover; Michael has booted up and has been enjoying the entertainment.

It's your bed John. I'll defend to the hilt your right to the space underneath it.
You've worked hard for your poetry proceeds. Please consult your financial advisor to see if indigence is right for you.

YOU are my financial adviser. And it is right that poets should be poor.

And wasn't it Martin Amiss who said they shouldn't drive? Or maybe it was someone else? I'm certainly poor, and I didn't drive until I was 32. It took me 18 years to finally get the hang of it.
Whoo-hoo! 5 more posts and I'll be at the 1,000 mark. And it only took me 14 years (that's if I reach 1,000 by September). Somebody stop me!

Kingsley Amis didn't drive. Nor would he get into an aeroplane. He was quite rich but every penny he had earned himself, so good on him. Not from his poetry though I earn more from that than he ever did. Quite right too. I'm better. As a poet.
Williamb I didn't drive until I was forty and I don't now that I am sixty-nine. It was nice when I did I must say. We have free buses for old persons. Jolly good. It takes a long time though. Cars are better.

Ah! I knew it was one of the Amises. When I typed Martin Amis s* I felt something was amiss, since I only read about a third of one of his novels. I remember a fart joke too? It was one of those rare, genuinely funny fart jokes.
If I had a missus I'd tell her about my Amis miss.
Apologies, there's a pun thread on another board.
*I missspelled it.
