Martin Elster Nominated for Rhysling Prize!
Martin Elster has been nominated for a Rhysling Award for speculative poetry for his poem in The Asses of Parnassus entitled "Why Have We Not Been Visited?"
Nice work, Martin!

That's great! The link above wouldn't work for me, for some reason, so I'll add another one here.
Best,

"I pray for one last landing
on the globe that gave me birth
to rest my eyes on fleecy skies
and the cool green hills of Earth..."

Congrats, Martin!

Martin has two poems nominated, one in the long poem section and one in the short poem section. I also have a poem nominated in the short poem section. As I understand it, our poems will be appearing in the annual Rhysling Anthology, after which the SFPA membership will vote for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the long and short poem categories.
I reckon if enough Sphereans were to join the SFPA, we could win this thing. Just saying.

Thanks, folks!
I was going to mention Matt’s excellent poem, “Requiem,” but he beat me to the punch. You can see the poem here:

It’s the last one in the issue (scroll all the way down).
By the way, Bill, I love that poem you quoted. But it’s actually a song by Robert A. Heinlein.

Thanks for your eagle-eyed update, Matt. And for your working link, Ed. And congrats to you too, Matt. And for the other link, Martin. These are such good poems, I wish you the best in the final round!
Cheers,
Siham

Rhysling is a fictional character (a blind space poet) created by Heinlein, and is the hero of the short story in which the song, attributed to him, appears. Or so Wikipedia tells me. I've not read the story, but I think I shall seek it out.
Siham, thank you!
