(It's not just Biden's voting record that's unavailable - it's McCain's, too - I presume it's all senate members but I'm too jaded to look any more. I do have a feeling I looked up one more senator than you did, tho.)

What do we know?

We know he's been a senator since 1973. He's got 35 years of experience.

We know he's got foreign policy experience. We know he's been out of the country more than 3 times.

We know he's a family man. We know he lost his wife and baby daughter in a tragic accident in 1973, that he took the law of office for The Senate in a hospital room so that he did not have to leave the side of his injured sons and that even now he travels home by AmTrak to Delaware each day in order to spend more time with his family. (Or is that sexist of me to mention?) He may not be the splashy hero that John McCain is, but yanno, to me, he's got alot of hero in him. The kind I admire - the quiet, everyday ordinary, uncomplaining and unassuming heroics that I admire. The kind that cops possess, and fireman, and soldiers and nurses. The kind that takes whatever life gives them, sucks it up, and takes care of business without needing to tell the world what a wonderful job he's doing.

We know he's pro-union.

We know he tends to be long-winded when he speaks.

We know he's a conservationist.

We know, as well, that he is the 99th richest senator out of 100, the 4th among senators in terms of seniority, and the 44th among senators in terms of age. He has a son who is attorney general of Delaware but still decided to deploy to Iraq, even though he likely could have gotten out of it, so the foolish idea that Biden or other Democrats who oppose the war do not "support the troops" is demonstrably nothing less than demagoguery.

But forget Iraq. Sarah Palin would now have us invading Russia. I suppose she'll lead the charge, based on the expertise she accumulated living all her life just a Bering Straight away from our once and future enemy.

Right on, Roger. The problem in America is that there are 2 Americas. And those who have been made drunk with the Bush/Cheney/ Post-9-11 Koolaid cannot embrace rational thinking. They will have to go to a de-tox center for treatment -- its clearly a mental disease that reduces us to talking about pigs wearing lipstick. The future of our country has become like a sporting event, each team desiring so much to win the game that it may cost us everything in the end. This is the "2 Americas syndrome", which, like Israel and Palistine apparently calls for a 2 State solution. This is chaos at its finest.

I looked at (briefly) Biden, Obama, McCain and Palin. You have to go to state level to check Palin; there's really nothing at the Federal level. Obama's and Biden's records appear to be there, though I haven't looked at them. I tried McCain's for a moment and there was a message in red that he hadn't responded to requests for information. I pulled up a couple of random senator records by state and saw the same message.

Way back when there were, what? ten or eleven Democratic candidates, my favorite was Joe Biden. I didn't know about his personal history, Senate record, not even that he was born in Scranton, right next to where I was raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA. It was a gut feeling, that's all. So what if he's long-winded?
