Bringing this back up to the top - with all the good words about Alicia, and info about voting, so that the three pages don't get lost behind the new thread - on the same theme - that Jennifer just started. Would it make sense to combine the two?

I think it would make sense, Michael, and I think I've just done that... If I've ever performed the action before, it's been a very long time so I hope I did the right thing. I just seem to have made Jennifer's thread vanish... there weren't any posts on it, so I guess that may be how it works (?).

Jayne, you are technically a genius. Poetically also, I think.

Forgive me; this is embarrassing. Please can you give me a definitive pronunciation of Alicia's surname. I have been asked by several people and realise that I don't know, having read it for so long but never having heard it spoken.

Ann:
As an American I always love to give my British friends advice on pronunciation of our language, so here goes: it rhymes (appropriately, I guess) with "callings."

I've always called her starlings, and she does answer to that.

Two of her poems, from the Summer issue of The Dark Horse, were featured yesterday on Poetry Daily here.
