Dear Maryann, I've dreaded this news, but the blow is softened a little by the hope that you might workshop again. Many thanks for your kind and wise administration.

Maryann--
Thank you so much for nurturing just the right tone here--dignified, thoughtful, and fun all at once. As a newcomer, I was drawn to this forum by its obviously high degree of talent and intelligence, but also because it was clearly a carefully tended community. Thank you for all your gentle but effective tending.
Best,
Jean

Thank you. As Rory said, it was your handling of the ship on stormy seas that prevented me from jumping overboard, though I hid in the rigging for a while. May you reap the just reward for all that patience and grace. I owe you, Maryann.

Maryann,
You've done a fabulous job as head moderator. I'm very sorry you're leaving your post, but on the other hand, if it gives you more time for your own writing then I'm happy for you. On a personal level, I want to thank you for the quick attention, the kindness, and the help you've given me when answering PMs I've sent you over the past couple of years.

oy vey, to whom shall we kvetch and kvell?
This is a bit like when the youngest gets to that stage where you no longer need to shlepp the stroller or a bag of things for the kiddo or even the kiddo and you discover that those things at the end of your arms are your own personal hands and at first there's so much available hand that you are just stunned how you'd never noticed for so long how busy they'd been for everyone else but now they're free and you can do whatever you want with them, which means mazaltov on reaching this stage, what an achievement and a job well done .
Humble thanks for all.

You've done a very difficult, time consuming job, very, very well. Your skill and diplomacy will be greatly missed.

Maryann,
I have admired the way you have handled the duties here. Yours will be tough shoes to fill. I am sorry that you are stepping out of the Admin role, but goodness knows, you desrve to be free from it. Thank you for all you have done for us.
