I'm hoping this works. I think I reset to Pacific Standard Time, so this is a test!

Charlotte

A few moments later! Yes, it worked. The time is right. But it still jumped back two posts (above Cathy and Alex).

Maryann, I really don't see how a glitch of this sort matters. Time is an invented construct and a programming glitch reflected on a computer screen is, at least to me, of absolutely no consequence.

Hi Maryann and all --

Last night the server was misbehaving and I got the server hosting company to look at it since it was a problem at their end. In the end, they were able to resolve the problem, but it looks like they messed up the time!

I'll go take a look now and see if I can readjust to time zone and time stamp.

Cheers,
...Alex

Follow-up:

I posted this as "Post Reply", but the system is inserting it way up in the thread, instead of after my last post (obviously, it's confused since the system timezone change). So, I'm just going to edit it in here so the sequence of posting is preserved --

It looks like they (incompetently) changed the timezone on me! I've now reset it to PDT, but I'm not sure if that's what was there before. But, everyone, check to see if your time stamps look better now.

By the way, you can set your own time zone exactly individually, the way you prefer it, by editing your profile, and that's what the system show you henceforth, (regardless of the system or server time). Here's how to do it --

1) click on the "User CP" link near the top of the page;
2) on the page that opens, click on "Edit Options" on the left-side panel;
3) scroll down to the "Date & Time Options" page block and set the options there to your liking, and then, scroll all the way down and click on "Save Changes". And that's it!
Cheers,
...Alex

I noticed that too, Maryann, so I'm testing. It looks like the time is correct.

I'm guessing that that since I'd reset the control time - the server time - from CDT, where the server staff erroneously left it, back to PDT, it might take the system at least two hours to un-confuse itself no matter what your individual time zone is set to. So, by now, everything should be working again as it should. If not, let me know.

Cheers,
...Alex

The dates and times on the Sphere have NEVER been correct for me.
Eventually I just wrote this off as one of the cosmic mysteries.

PS: After writing the above, I noticed that the time is now correct. Obsequious apologies.

Now let me see. Yes, exactly right. You are a star, Alex. A star, a gentleman and a scholar, as we used to say

Alex, yes! A magician!

The time is right. But are the posts still jumping backwards?? Let's see if this one does... Right now, I'm the post after John (who's preceded by Gail...)

Charlotte

A few moments later: So far my post hasn't jumped back! Hurray!

Yay! We've stopped playing Leapfrog - backwards!

And what John said.

I prefer to set my profile to Pacific Time (I just look at my watch to see what time it is here!). PT gives me a quick reference to the likelihood of Cally and the West Coasters being up and about, and I knock off an hour or two as my mind travels eastwards.
