Thanks Kate. You've been a supportive editor and you've advanced metrical poetry with high-quality journals.

I sent Kate an e-mail, but I will also join in this public praise. These journals will be missed. I am proud to have been associated with them.

A thank-you from me, too, Kate. It bears repeating: your work with these journals has been substantial and well-appreciated. My good wishes go with you as your career evolves.

I was mourning morbidly
The death of Light Quarterly
And now, to boot,
No Bumbershoot.
So sorry about the passing of 3-in-one fine literary venues, but wishing the best of luck to Kate in all future ventures.

Thank you so much for these appreciative posts; emails have been raining in all day too. I'm flabbergasted.
This has been a year of renunciations for me -- sometimes you gotta pare back. I don't know what's next. I'll miss the editor role; of course, I'm ready if The New Yorker calls, and frankly I think they should.
My first social security check arrives later this month. I'm officially retired, but I hope that means officially revived as well.

Hey Katie. I get my first Social Security check in January. I shall wear my trousers rolled.

I'm sorry to see these journals go- I was delighted to have a poem in one- but I'm looking forward to the ways in which you will redefine "retirement", Kate, with all your talent, energy, and enthusiasm!
best luck,
Meredith

Ah so sad! Like Jayne, I would read friends' work there--usually Umbrella--think that this was great, and that I should try submitting, and now it's too late! Well, anyone who runs a literary magazine for any length of time has my admiration--what a tough job! Good luck in the future, Kate. Enjoy your "retirement." Hope we get to meet some day!
