Dear Sir Martin,

Huge congrats! And to Gail, Mary and John. And hi to you too, David--sorry to have missed you this summer at the UK gathering (and Mary too, of course).

Sounds like a lovely event!

Charlotte

Re the Awards Ceremony: The weather was absolutely glorious, and everything else about the event was perfect too.

David Anthony gave his judge's remarks, Mary McClean was there to read her witty, amusing poem, Martin Elster's winning poem was beautifully read in his absence, as was John Beaton's and Gail White's.

Food and champagne accompanied the proceedings... it doesn't get any better than that!!!!

Congratulations once again to the Spherians amongst the prize-winners and Hon Menshes, and special thanks to David for all his work in promoting this event. Watch out for next year's competition!

Jayne

Also, the dear people are going to convert my 30 pounds into dollars and deposit it in my bank account via PayPal. Why can't the Spectator do that?
