Gregory--it's because you're using Safari--the MAC server. For some reason it does this to the formatting and I don't know why nor does my webmaster. Several other people who have Safari have told me this happens. Use another server--Firefox, Netscape, etc., and you will get the right formatting.

David,
Thanks. I tried with Explorer and the same thing happened but then I tried with Camino and it worked. Now I can see why people have praised the lay-out. I was beginning to wonder whether it was a subtle comment on the marginalisation of poetry in our society and I was just the dumb one who hadn't got the point.

David,
It's a fine production. It fails for me on Safari as well but works on Camino. I have been involved in quite a few ezines (I'm ignorant about the technical aspects) but I do know that I used to interact with the webmaster until it worked on all browsers. It is possible. It's late here but if you'd like me to test it with you until it works on Safari I'd be happy to collaborate. Usually I get much better results on Safari than I do on Camino. Since Safari is a commonly used browser it's a shame to lose that readership.
I couldn't do that until tomorrow (about 10 hours from now).

Janet--please do. I'm in Chicago at MLA and couldn't look at what you discover immediately, but I'd love to maybe get at the source. Then I could relay the results of your research to my long-suffering webmaster and maybe we could correct the problem.
With Thanks,
David

I should add that there are some terrific poems in this issue. Peter Bloxsom's "Geographic Tongue" knocks me out and I've long admired Rose's "Noted Sadomasochists". James Matthew Wilson's "Alone, Far from the New Yorker" made me smile. Great issue all round.

David - Rose's poem looks just right on Safari. Other poems I checked were still squished on the right side. So let the webmaster match the code from Rose's page to the other pages?
