Sam Gwynn!

Well I should have guessed. Mischievous and wise at the same time.

I love it. Poetry is everywhere and the questions never leave us.

Thanks, Janet. It's an old poem that no one, to my knowledge, has ever commented on. I knew that it would be obscure when I wrote it (original title was "M. Magus," sans epigraph), but I always thought that it might work if someone got the allusions. The idea of Magoo as Magus just came to me, after hearing so many students speak of "Alfred Camusse."

Well I guess that gives the lie to Len's "true pathos and regret."

Yes, the deep whimsy of it says "Gwynn," but we were all too dumb to figure it out. Still, I can tell it wasn't Dave.
