At Bluenose Univeristy, I studied with the esteemed Alistair Hornswoggle, author of Poetry Will Never Die. You could teach Professor Hornswoggle a thing or two.

that last one cracked me up, Julie! More please!
The ideas in your poem had a magnetic power which forced me to step outside and look at different things.

Dear Mr Snellgrove
Thank you for submitting the MS of your new collection of poems: "Groucho". Ordinarily we do not read unsolicited work, but the importance, grace, charm, beauty and sheer craftsmanship of your work would be hard to underestimate. In this case, then, (even) nothing would be too much trouble.
Many thanks

Your poems made me think of all those naysayers who claim that poetry is a dying art.

Donna, I think you'd love The Lexicon of Intentionally Ambiguous Recommendations (L.I.A.R.) by Robert Thornton. The idea is to foist an annoying person on another employer without opening yourself up to future liability. It contains such gems as:
You would be incredibly lucky to get him to work for you.
No person would do the job better.
I am pleased to say that she is a former co-worker.

Julie, those are terrific, I'll look for the book. Thanks! Maybe one day someone will compile a book of ambiguous literary crits, too!
