Returning to the original question, if I may, here is another reason to vote for Clinton: The winner will be Commander in Chief. I know there are people who think of Hillary as a warmonger. And it's true that she voted for the Iraq war - along with most of Congress, who bought Bush's story about Weapons of Mass Destruction - and Bernie didn't. But I think she's rational and has the power of restraint. Whereas Trump, who openly admires the governing style of contemporary dictators, appears to have as much impulse control as my calico kitten.
The irony of using divisive, hate-filled rhetoric against each other while complaining about Trump's divisive, hate-filled rhetoric pains me. Truly it does.
All sides in this discussion should stop calling each other fools. Not only is it ad hom, it's redundant. It's obvious that anyone (myself included) who thinks there's any hope of changing certain minds and hearts in this thread is a fool.
Meanwhile, incredibly, I just heard a Chinese woman on the radio saying some folks in her country are questioning the very idea of democracy, since democracy seems to lead to people like Trump. Transcript isn't up yet, here's a link to the four minute piece: http://www.npr.org/2016/08/01/488274...-u-s-election#
But, according to the polls, the guy is going to get elected, isn't that so? . For the same sort of reasons that we voted Brexit. You get the explosive oaf and we get the divine Theresa, cool as a mountain stream. Not fair at all.
And yet the sun will come up, life will go on and everybody will learn to live with it. Except the wretched countries groaning under the tyranny of the EU, poor things. But even that won't be for ever.
John, what the hell are you reading - or smoking? Trump is behind in very poll.
Trump is the fat, loud guy with the strange hair. Hillary is the woman. You get that, right? Assuming you've got that part all sorted out and tucked away - where and how did you get the impression that Trump was ahead?
