Oh dear, poetic sensitivities again.
The happy chappy says ...
My Hero
I guess I’m my own hero,
my life's explained this way --
I always say just what I mean;
mean seldom what I say.
And when it comes to living
there is this philosophy;
life is simply far too short
to take it seriously.

Fred
If you're thin-skinned, that's something you need to get over.
Long time ago, when I stated a certain metaphor didn't work for me, you got professionally insulted, and started explaining electricity to me; I never attacked your theory, just stated the metaphor didn't work for me. You got in huff and ignored any other suggestions I made to you for a long time.
The only person you hurt was yourself. Pulling your poems has the same effect of cutting off your nose to spite your face. It doesn't hurt anyone else, and you don't get the benefit of anyone's opinion.
Stop whining and get over it. No one here really wants to hear it.

I remember the poem, Jerry. It was about transformers, and the thing I most learned from posting it was that -- setting aside the matter of power transformers and any professional knowledge I have about them -- the poem was not one of my better poems. You saw that, and, later on, I saw it too. I slipped it into my file of images to cannibalize later for other poems.
As for this situation, I consider it to be different.
Regards,
Fred

Maybe I missed something, then. I don't recall seeingseeing any ad hom comments directed at you. But then, I don't read every post, either.

We're not going to close this thread, but let me, in that gentle way I have, suggest that perhaps we've all said what we want to say on this one and everyone might be better served by focusing on his or her poetry with ferocious intensity.
Just a thought...

Tom,
With all due respects, this was not about a member's reaction to my poem. The first person to respond to the poem basically approved of it, however, he asked a question. I responded in a simple, brief manner that didn't try to "explain" the poem. The member then took umbrage at me. I still do not understand why -- but ultimately the why's and wherefore's don't matter.
I have had the consistent experience that when this kind of exchange occurs very early on in a thread that it tends to spoil or contaminate later entries into the thread.
I elected to pull the poem. Perhaps I should have left it at that . . .
Best,
Fred
