Arthur Guiterman's "Ancient History," which begins
I hope the old Romans
Had painful abdomens.
I wonder what Keats you mean though, John.

Terese, that one that ends
So he stood in his shoes and he wondered
He wondered.
He stood in his shoes and he wondered.
Guiterman is good, though.

John,
Perhaps "saucy" has a different connotation in London. Here I think of it as cute, whereas you may think of it as insolent or worse.
Would you mind clarifying as to the UK use of the word?

Saucy means, usually, sexually suggestive but not very. Hats you could buy at the seaside said 'Kiss me Quick and Squeeze me Slow'. That was saucy. In 'Some Like it Hot' Sweet Sue says of the girls in her orchestra 'All my girls are virtuosos and I aim to keep it that way'. That is also, I think, saucy. On the other hand Mae West's, 'Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?' is filthy, not saucy. It's a rather old-fashioned word for (perhaps) a rather old-fashioned thing.

Sigh. So there's no point in my sending the one I had posted above, at least not to Speccie. Thanks, John.

I think I'm being objective when I say that none of them were as good as ours!!
BTW, did you notice that Greenwell fella only got honorable mention? What's up with that?
