Sam and Holly, I'm still getting an 'invalid recipient' message from The Oldie, and there's been no reply to an email to the editorial address querying the problem, so I'm resorting to Royal Mail on this occasion and hoping it gets to them through the snow. Still puzzled about why John 's could arrive and ours couldn't.

My first one didn't arrive. It just took its time about not arriving so I thought it had. I sent a second one and I've just followed it up with a query. I'll get back to you all on this. Old fools, as I think I said before. But the Speccie is no better. I'm still waitig for last week's and THEIR switchboard is manned, or should that be womanned, by young persons who all sound like Betty Boop - an English Betty Boop. Terminally useless this country. I think it's all Gordon Brown's fault.

The nice lady at the Oldie, doubtless jingling her pearls, says all is now well because a nice man has fixed it. And, do you know, I think he has. My post went off yesterday, and no MAILER DAEMON. I think the waggon got through. Not a terribly good waggon, but that's not the point.
