Bob Schechter ["Roger Slater"] is exercising his usual reluctance to blow his own horn in not starting a new thread for the new WaPo contest and the Tailgater results, but they deserve one, since the powers that be were clearly impressed by the influx of Sphereans and Brits this time out: the
link (is this damn thing on? good).
Be sure to read the nice things the Empress has to say about Bob for suggesting the contest and upping their game. She singles out Bill Greenwell, well-known poet from Darlington, for submitting a couplet about a panto-horse. Brendan Beary is praised for having inspired several entries, and Mary Moore's double dactyls at Bumbershoot are linked. Be sure you click through on the "This week's results" link, where Brendan, Mary, Melissan Balmain, Bazza, Bob Schechter, Chris O'Carroll, Brian Algar, JD Smith, and I show up. Bazza and Brian scored in both the clean and dirty categories. Well done, us.
Their next contest is a limerick about a book, play, movie or tv show - so, it appears Bob has single-handedly moved the center-of-gravity over at the Style Invitational, which has been wary of doing many verse contests together.
Feel free to start the ball rolling . . . . .
