The email I recieved and posted on General Talk, Disappearing Phrases , got me thinking it might be fun to write some poems containing phrases that will never co-exist. Can anyone include a fender skirt and a hard drive in the same poem? How about the space shuttle and a running board?

This is tough, because "space shuttle" is metrically unfriendly.
From Song of the Astronaut - 2050
When training for the launch we drank and whored,
shared women in each rum-drenched, blood-red place;
but now we must behave like lambs in space:
shuttle to Uranus - running bored.

Speaking of Unfriendly
It was a hard drive home with her in the car
then I tried for a goodnight kiss:
but she ran past the fender, skirt in her hands
denying me conjugal bliss.
Sharon - your title was misleading. Here I was thinking of the Rocky Horror Picture Show - 'Let's do the time warp again!'

Eratosphere Graffiti
Finding girlfriends can be wicked hard:
drive down Main Street - but not on a bender -
be protective of psyche and fender;
skirt-chasing's no game for the dis-carred
(Get some other participants, Sharon. I'm punning as fast as I can.)

How about a whalebone corset and a naugahyde jacket?
Her hobby? Etching images of ships
on whalebone. Corset doesn't bring in cash.
For that, she brings in any crook who skips
town: a bounty hunter. In a flash,
she nabbed a joe named Jack Bananaboat
who'd robbed a bank and left behind a glove.
She could've turned him in, but said (I quote):
"Naw, g'hide, Jack." It was puppy love.
Gee. I'm so proud of this fine piece.

Yes, Rosa, I understand your pride. It is very reminiscent of Emily Dickinson.

I'm sorry. I was thinking of Eric Dickerson. I often confuse them.

How about 'Michael Cantor' and 'the milk of human kindness'?
*grin*

Oh, well, I was thinking of Angie Dickinson anyway.
