Default Mugs

None of us won anything for our Darwinian limericks though there were SEVENTEEN winners, some very good. Disappointing and unaccountable though. Meanwhile, hope springing eternal, what about this? I found on a website called The Poetry Kit. I think I'll give it a go though I need more mugs like a hole in the head.

POETRY FOR MUGS.

Unlimited Editions Ltd intends to publish a series of 4 specially written poems, each on a separate mug. Each edition will consist of only 72 mugs.

These mugs will be used in the café at Bank Street with a limited few being made available for sale as a limited edition set.

This circular is an open call/competition for you to write and submit a poem for publication as part of that series. The winning four entries will be published on mugs and each winner will receive their own limited edition set.

The title of your poem must be ‘My Cup of Tea’; it must be new poem and original to you. The title will be reproduced as shown and need not appear in your poem. Feel free to interpret the title in any way but pay attention to line length and the number of lines – your poem must fit onto the mug as shown, we would advise a maximum of 9 lines with no more than 40 characters per line.

The deadline for submissions is 15 March 2009. Please send entries by e-mail only to prize@bankstreetarts.com If you require any further information please write to us at the same address and for more information about our activities see www.bankstreetarts.com Please feel free to circulate this flyer and enter as many poems as you wish!

(to see the example go to - http://www.bankstreetarts.com/poetry4mugs.html )

I trust you foreigners know that if something is 'my cup of tea' then that means that I like it very much, as in 'Britney Spears is my cup of tea'. Or not as the case may be.

This is great John, but, but, but in the Darwin Limericks, our Marion, Marion Shore Limerickadelian Extrodinaire won! And so continues the tradition of Eratospherian, what d'ye call 'em- laurelwreathers.
Congrats Marion.

I'm so sorry, Marion. How did I miss you? The honour of the Sphere was at stake and you did it. I don't suppose you'll grow rich on the prize though.

Martin. That was quick. Well done. But I think you ought to look to your apostrophe.

Yes, you're right! I even wrote another one (posted above), which is also an apostrophe. I think it's a nice triolet, though. Thanks for pointing that out, Holly. I'll try another approach.
