Default Inauguration Day Poems from the Grassroots

Why should Elizabeth A. have all the fun?

Political heavy, or political lite. Have a go. Raise the standard.

Recipe for Inauguration Day Soup

The common stock ain't what it might appear to be
as proof I postulate mild celery.
Behold the lowly chervil
which some considered servile.
Regard also the leek
so meek.

Visions which no sharp-eyed yuppie could surmise
comes clear with an old tater's groping eyes.

The country's snappy beans and peas
learned early on: good soup don't grow on trees.
You need to put a lot
of prime assortment in the cooking pot.

The best ragout has got a bushel
of tomatoes, bright and juicefull.
(Who coulda guess the fate a
that prized Palin tomata.)

Well, some people thought us corny
but what we wuz, wuz pretty horny
for some good old country fare.
A feller can't subsist on bullshit and hot air.

And neither can a gal.
So there.
