The results for The Tipsy Muse Poetry Contest, Event VI are in from our distinguished judge, Thomas Carper! Read all about it at here at the awards page.

In brief --
<hr>

Thank you all, participants and commentators for making event VI for hitting the mark with our Judge, even with the light number of entries.

Congratulations to our Tipsy Muse Poetry Contest event VI grand prize winner, whose sonnet drew raves from our distinguished judge: "... the poet takes Victor Hugo’s 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' and gives the story of the bell-ringer a different trajectory ..."

The Eratospherean, "Jude"

And, our three honorable mention winners, selected in no particular order by our Judge:

1. Roger Slater
2. Christopher Wagner
3. Ralph C. La Rosa

To winning member, "Jude" using a handle, please send me your full/real names to the 'Administrator' so that the awards page can be updated with the proper information.

Congratulations again. Well done!

... and, all the Tipsy details are here, at The Tipsy Muse Hall of Light!

Note: The next topic is now up here, at the contest introductory pages .

The Distinguished Judge for the Tipsy Muse Poetry Contest Event VII is Diane Thiel. Feel free to visit her Able Muse pages here .

As always, please, please, only submit entries that follow the stated topic guidelines and verseform, or, risk your entry being rejected, with absolutely no chance of re-entry until the next event!

Sorry for the delay in this announcement. However, the entry deadline for Event VI is still September 30 ... so, whip out your tipsy quills now!

Imagine my delight to find "That Spin We're In," honorably mentioned amidst the good company of Chris and Roger! Many thanks to Tipsy and our distinguished, insightful, marvelous, beloved, eloquent, and soon-to-be-enshrined judge, Thomas Carper. Hey, "Jude," don't be so obscure about your identity--yours is a beut and the clear-cut winner. Just to show I haven't let my modest ovillejo's good fortune go to my head, I now reveal the ur-text behind the submitted piece:

That Grind We’re In

It’s burgers from the Stop-‘n-Munch.
It’s lunch,
the perfect form for tougher steaks
that makes—
for those who love beef ground—
the world grind round.
They who praise it always sound
like horny lovers having fun
when they enjoy a meat-filled bun.
It’s lunch that makes the world grind round.

Oooooooh, imagine the spin I'M in!

I apologise for my absence lately ~ pressure of work and a bit of ill health have slowed me down a bit. Many thanks to Michael Juster for being the Bringer of Good News and informing me about this win.

I didn't mean to be Jude The Obscure, and I will see what I can do about addressing that matter... but ... ooooooh, right now I'm so excited and thrilled and honoured by this that I'm in a bit of a dither. Can you tell?

I need to read some of the posts relating to this, and some of the posting protocol, and then I will post again. I see that I need to supply my full name and such formalities, but I don't know where to do that. Sorry. I'll learn.

Oh! I'm grinning so hard my face is hurting.

Jude

Hey Jude, you made it good. Congratulations. A pat on the hunch to you. And pats on the back also to Roger, Chris, and Ralph.

John
