Default Indiana Poetry Book

One of my older poems, "Gary, 1961," has been reprinted in a newly-released anthology, And to Know This Place: The Poetry of Indiana. Lots of great work in it from people with an Indiana connection (I grew up and went to school there). Includes poetry by Jared Carter, Yusef Komunyakaa, Jane Hilberry, Lisa Mueller, Felix Stefanile, David Wojahn . . . a host of others. Consider ordering a copy. www.indianahistory.org.

Congratulations. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Best,

Congrats, David. I knew you were a Hoosier and that Jared was, but not the others you listed (Yusef Komunyakaa, Jane Hilberry, Lisa Mueller, Felix Stefanile, David Wojahn). Or is this by affiliation and not by birth? I guess so, Komunyakaa was born in Louisiana and Wojahn in Minnesota.

I think of Alice Friman as an Indiana poet. Is she in it the anthology? And how come nobody asked Ed and me?

Yes, Janice. She has a poem in it called "Trip to Delphi." The editor required a "connection" to Indiana--lived or studied there, I suppose. Not everyone in the anthology was born there.

Janice: The author bios say that Komunyakaa taught for a while at Indiana University.

You are in excellent company, David. Sounds like it is my patriotic duty to acquire this. even if some flunkey's oversight caused Ed and myself to be overlooked.

Better luck next time, Ed.
