It is very easy to parody contemporary poetry (and very hard to tell which is the poem and which is the parody). Anyone for shooting fish in a barrel? Come on, we're Americans. Surely someone has a gun.

No doubt plenty of guns Susan but finding a barrel full of fish may not be so easy.
This article didn't seem to have a point and finding a consensus of poets, that'll be the day.

Its very easy to parody any poetry, I think, and poetry in general. And it should be easy for us to laugh at ourselves. Trademark Onion stuff interjecting stuff like "...told reporters," and "according to sources" with arcane bits of poetry. I thought it was pretty funny. But I am a fan of The Onion.

David, I'm not saying that I didn't find the article mildly amusing. I guess what annoys me is that it is always the same joke. Whenever I see anyone pretending to be a poet, that person is using the same tired shtick.

I know. I use the same shtick when I make fun of poets, too.

Read the story, watched the video. The pomposity of the supposed "poem" is laughable. Even as satire this is over the top.
