Our own Roger (as his alter-ego, the mild-mannered Bob Schechter) pretty much owns this week's Style Invitational, with four entries (that I counted) receiving ink, plus 'a (metaphorical) “special star for creativity,”' among other compliments, awarded by the Empress. Every time I try and post a link, it's to a page that won't open - perhaps some person who's handier with them will do it?
Meanwhile, Monday is the deadline for the verse competition referred to at the top of this thread. Strange form: either one or two rhyming couplets in catalectic trochaic pentameter about a news topic. First and last syllables of each line in a given couplet must rhyme. Nice little tonic for clearing the old IP cobwebs, or the most fiendish contraption since the paradelle? I haven't decided yet.
