I did enjoy this one.
Classic Petrarchan sonnet--the most challenging sonnet form--and makes it look easy.
There is a volta, I think, coming early.
I love the close.
The sestet is utterly brilliant - indeed inspired. The games with clichés in the octave are a risk, that just about comes off – probably it does because by the end we know the writer is fully in command of the tone and material. I don’t mean to sound grudging – I think this is really hot stuff.
